<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building structure capable of sufficiently securing strength of connection between members without increasing costs, and a method for constructing the building structure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This building structure includes one member 1, the other member 2, a joint material 6, a bolt 3 on one side, a bolt 4 on the other side, and a nut 5. The joint material 6 has an approximately L-shaped portion which comprises a piece 6a on one side, having an abutting surface abutting on the one member 1, and a piece 6b on the other side, bent from one end of the piece 6a and abutting on the lateral wall of the other member 1. The bolt 3 is inserted through bolt holes 7a and 7b in which the one member 1 and the piece 6a of the joint material 6 abut on and overlap each other; and the bolt 4 on the other side is inserted through the bolt holes 7a and 7b in which the other member 2 and the piece 6b of the joint material 6 abut on and overlap each other. The nut 5 is fastened across the bolts 3 and 4. A distance from a surface, abutting on the other member 2, of the piece 6a of the joint material 6 to the bolt hole 7a is set shorter than the distance from the one end side of the one member 1 to the bolt hole 7b.
