PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for evaluating mechanical functions of blood vessels to be measured for evaluating arterial sclerosis of blood vessels by extracting a natural frequency on vibrations of the blood vessels based on vibration data acquired from the blood vessels to be measured which are respectively located in symmetrical positions of a human and by using the natural frequency as a mechanical index of the blood vessel. Ž
SOLUTION: In the evaluation apparatus 10, microphones 11L, 11R and vibration sensors 12L, 12R simultaneously measure vibrations due to blood flows through right and left superficial temporal arteries 70L, 70R, a left carotid artery 80L, and a right carotid artery 80R. A calculation processing device 14 of the evaluation apparatus 10 performs a frequency analysis on vibration data acquired by the measurement and generates the natural frequency for each of the blood vessels. The evaluation apparatus 10 acquires stiffness and a predicted blood pressure of a rupture corresponding to the extracted natural frequency based on both correlations of a correlation between the natural frequency and the stiffness and a correlation between the natural frequency and the predicted blood pressure of a rupture.
