<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device reducing a temperature difference between a temperature in the upper part of a vessel part and a temperature in its lower part, and a projector using it. <P>SOLUTION: This light source device 110 includes a vessel part 30 having a pair of built-in electrodes 42, 52 disposed along the optical axis L of illumination, an arc tube 20 having a pair of sealing parts 40, 50 extending on both sides of the vessel part 30, a reflector 10 installed on one sealing part 40 side of the arc tube 20 to reflect luminous flux emitted from the arc tube 20 toward an illuminated region side, and a secondary mirror 60 installed on the other sealing part 50 side to cover the outside face on the illuminated region side of the vessel part 30 and formed so that a first reflecting member 70 comprising a plurality of reflecting members with reflecting surfaces (reflecting layers 73, 83) having different shapes and a second reflecting member 80 are alternately disposed, while distances from the optical axis L of illumination to the outlines of the first reflecting member 70 and the second reflecting member 80 are different, to reflect the luminous flux of the arc tube 20 toward the arc tube 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
