PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus and a coating method, for obtaining a coating film with high film thickness accuracy and a smooth surface without coating irregularities. SOLUTION: The coating apparatus includes a backup roller 20 for supporting a long-length web 16 running in the longitudinal direction on the outer peripheral surface, and a coating head 18 disposed facing the backup roller 20 and for supplying coating liquid to the web 16. Both of the coating head 18 and a column 15 supporting the backup roller are supported on one rack 30, and the rack 30 is fixed onto an active vibration removing device 32.
