PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of preventing different coloring to be caused by an occurrence of smear in a peripheral area of a photographed image. SOLUTION: A CCD 22 is provided with: a semiconductor substrate 90 having a plurality of columns of elements 82 disposed horizontally, in parallel, each column of elements having a plurality of light-receiving elements 80, aligned along the vertical direction each to store an electric charge corresponding to a received light quantity; color filters provided on a light-incident side on the semiconductor substrate 90, having a given color pattern, and transmissive of any color component lights to the respective light-receiving elements; and a plurality of vertical transmission paths 86, arranged in parallel corresponding to the columns of elements 82, respectively, and each adapted to transmit electric charges stored in respective light-receiving elements 80, in the corresponding column of element 82. In this CCD, column of elements 82 and of the vertical transmission path 86, corresponding to the column of elements 82, are inverted with respect to each other in the regions that are partitioned by a boundary line taken as a boundary along the vertical direction, including a position on the semiconductor substrate 90 corresponding to the optical axis of light which is incident from an optical unit 20.
