The airship i.e. cargo transport airship (17), has a photovoltaic outer casing (10) designed as a separate component and provided at an outside support on an exterior shell (9) of an elliptical carrier body (8). The casing comprises a structure made of continuous fabric (11) of photovoltaic effective layers that are made of impregnated fibers. The casing is covered with stable network strands. The casing and the stable network strands form mounting plates (20, 21) and linings (22, 23) for drive assemblies (18, 19), and electric motors (24, 25) are provided in combustion engines.
