The method involves communicating isolation information to control and protection system (26) of industrial plant (2) via data communication unit (28) e.g. electronic device. The data outputted from plant device (8) is provided to data input unit (42) of data communication unit. An interface (36) is provided between the data communication unit and the control and protection system, so as to exchange isolation information. An independent claim is included for device for isolating plant device of industrial plant.
