Method of Generating a Recipe for Process

The invention defines an abstraction method in which a master recipe may be converted to a general recipe, especially for use in biopharmaceutical batch processes. A method of generating a general recipe for an industrial process that is not site or resource specific to from a master recipe that has specific site and process elements and records defining the process elements, the method comprises:a) Determining which process elements of the master recipe is a support segment that relates only to resources assigned to the master recipe and generating a record in the general recipe that is not a support segment;b) Determining a process property of each of the process elements in the general recipe and assigning a process property value thereto and creating a record thereof;C) Determine and creating records of resource requirements of the process elements in the general recipe chosen from the master recipe and creating requirement groups for process elements associated with such resource requirements;d) determining scheduling relationships for the process elements of the general recipe so generated by: (i) determining which process elements are primary and which are secondary;(ii) determining the processing relationship of other process elements with respect to primary process elements; and(iii) storing data defining whether the processing relationships are general or site specific.
