Shavings 6a, Fig. 2 (only one of which is shown) cut from a workpiece 1 by a band or belt knife 3 and adhering to a feeder roller 4 are removed therefrom and conveyed by suction down an inclined conduit 8 discharging to a collecting chamber 11, Fig. 1, which serves to deflect the air current through a vacuum chamber 10 connected to an exhaust fan 15. The upper working end of the conduit 8 provides a suction nozzle 7 cut so as to provide a zone 7a adjacent the leading peripheral edge of the feeder roller 4 greater than a zone 7b adjacent the trailing edge. The collector 11 is detachably connected to the vacuum chamber 10 which has an optional filter screen 14.</p> |
