Problem: To provide a fastening assembly 1 for securing a floor mat 11 to a carpet 2, facilitating the combining operation, preventing separation by pulling out after combining, enhancing the knob holding force, and a clicking sensation confirms completion of the attachment operation. Means for Solving the Problem: A fastening assembly 1 comprises a first fastener 5 that is attached to a carpet 2, a knob 6 that is attached to the first fastener 5, and a second fastener 15 that is attached to a floor mat 11. A knob base 10 is integrally provided in a first carpet grommet 7 of the first fastener 5. The knob 6 comprises a knob shank 37 that is coupled to be able to turn about its axis inside the knob base 10 between an unlocked position and a locked position. The knob base 37 comprises, about itself, projections which fit into and mate with channels in knob coupling latching pawls 33 of the knob base; thus, the knob holding force is enhanced, and a clicking sensation confirms completion of the attachment operation.
