A cooling air distributor (7) positioned around turbine casing (12) directs cooling air flow into the core-engine ventilation compartment (15) surrounding turbine casing, to control the running gap (13) of blade row and turbine casing. An inlet nozzle (5) directs bypass air from bypass duct (3) into cooling air distributor. A controller controls an amount of bypass air from bypass duct into cooling air distributor. A return duct arrangement returns the bypass air from core-engine ventilation compartment to the bypass duct.
