Producing hydrogen from hydrocarbon charge and water vapor comprises: transferring a portion of the charge towards a steam reforming (11) unit, and another part of the charge directly to an autothermal reformer (16), by mixing with effluent obtained from the unit; steam reforming of hydrocarbon charge in the unit; autothermal reforming of obtained flux and the charge sent directly to autothermal reformer; steam conversion of synthesis gas to convert carbon monoxide and for increasing the hydrogen flow; and capturing carbon dioxide in flux to separate carbon dioxide from hydrogen flux.
