The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a final product (A) in a manufacturing executing system (MES), including the phase of building a production rule (10) of the final product (A), comprising a step of defining a plurality of product segments (20a, 20b, 20c, 30a, 30b, 30c), each product segments (20a, 20b, 20c, 30a, 30b, 30c) specifying at least a process to be executed and resources involved therein. According to this method the step of defining includes associating the product segments (20a, 20b, 20c, 30a, 30b, 30c) to respective production rules (20, 30) of components (B, C) of the final product (A) and linking the respective production rules (20, 30) of the components (B, C) to the production rule (10) of the final product (A), the production rules (20, 30) of the components (B, C) being independently defined with respect to the production rule of the final product (A).
