PURPOSE: An internal-combustion engine with a variable valve gear is provided to compact a valve train and to appropriately control a variable valve gear. CONSTITUTION: An internal-combustion engine with a variable valve gear comprises a variable valve gear. The variable valve gear has a cam phase varying unit(20) which varies the phase of a drive cam of a suction valve. First and second hydraulic actuators(50,51) are arranged in a cam shaft of the cam phase varying unit. The rotation of the crank shaft is input to the first hydraulic actuator. The rotation of the first hydraulic actuator is input to the second hydraulic actuator.
