PURPOSE: A polarizer and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to have strong points in the aspect of an environmental issue and a sanitary issue by not using organic solvent. CONSTITUTION: A polarizer comprises a polarization film(4) which is formed to the polyvinyl alcohol type resin and a protection film. The protection film is formed by inserting a lower adhesive layer in at least one side of the polarization film. The adhesive layer is formed into adhesive composition. The adhesive composition contains the aceto acetyl group modified poly vinylalcohol group resin and glyoxylic acid salt. The content of the aceto acetyl group modified poly vinylalcohol group resin is 1 or 8 weight compared to the water 100 weight.
