PURPOSE: An insulating material for electrical cables is provided to obtain excellent flexibility, mechanical properties, and insulating properties and to be used as an insulating layer of electrical cables which are installed in a narrow space. CONSTITUTION: An insulating material for electrical cables includes 0.5-20 parts by weight based on 100.0 parts by weight of a copolymer of ethylene and alpha-olefin. The copolymer is obtained by polymerizing the ethylene and the alpha-olefin in a weight ratio of 90%:10% - 55%:45%, respectively. The melting point of the copolymer is 30-90 °C. The copolymer is a polymer which is selected from a group comprising ethylene-butene, ethylene-octene, ethylene-propylene, or their mixture. An insulating electrical cable comprises a conductor(1), an insulator(2) surrounding the conductor, and a sheath material(5) surrounding the insulator. |
