MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIA WITH ENHANCED WRITABILITY AND THERMAL STABILITY

PURPOSE: A magnetic recording medium is provided to ensure uniformly high anisotropy and narrow switching field distribution because of reduced defects. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic recording medium comprises a first magnetic record layer(4), a second magnetic record layer(5), and an exchange tuning layer(7). The first magnetic record layer has an anisotropic field of about 10 kOe. The second magnetic record layer has an anisotropic field lower than that of the first magnetic record layer. The exchange tuning layer is located between the first magnetic record layer and the second magnetic record layer and includes a granular layer.
