APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING DEHYDATION SPEED IN A WASHING MACHINE

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling dehydration process in a washing machine are provided to reduce the dehydration time and to accurately detect the eccentricity and the vibration resulting from the laundry unevenly placed in a drum. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling dehydration process in a washing machine comprises next steps. If the washing machine enters dehydration process, the eccentricity is sensed and a motor is rotated at a high speed for a predetermined time if the sensed eccentricity is smaller than a first reference eccentricity(S20). The motor rotating at a high speed is reduced to a first speed to sense eccentricity and the motor is increased to a second speed if the sensed eccentricity is smaller than a second reference eccentricity(S30). The eccentricity of the motor rotating at the second speed is sensed and the motor is increased to a third speed if the sensed eccentricity is smaller than a third reference eccentricity(S50).
