Disclosed is a method for receiving and transmitting from virtual antennas rather than physical ones. The method includes selecting a virtual antenna from a plurality of virtual antennas, and then providing an indication of the virtual antenna for use for data transmission. The virtual antennas are formed with a plurality of physical antennas.
