PURPOSE: A system for saving water and energy using rainwater and geothermal heat and a method of operating the system are provided to considerably save water using rainwater for agriculture or daily life. CONSTITUTION: A system for saving water and energy using rainwater and geothermal heat comprises a water collecting unit(50), a water collecting/filtering unit(60), a rainwater storage(70), a supply pipe(75), and a geothermal-heat heat pump(80). The water collecting unit is installed on the end of a roof and collects rainwater to discharge it to outside or to supply it to the water collecting/filtering unit. The water collecting/filtering unit filters the foreign material contained in the rainwater and supplies it to the rainwater storage. The rainwater storage includes a number of large rainwater storage pipes which are buried in the ground. The supply pipe is connected to the rainwater storage pipe and supplies water to a place requiring water using a rainwater supply pump. One end of the geothermal-heat heat pump is connected to the circulating pipe of the rainwater storage and the other end is connected to a pipe. The geothermal-heat heat pump absorbs heat from a heat source of a low temperature and supplies the heat to a heat source of a high temperature.
