The present invention relates to a process for the production of hydrogen gas and carbon nanotubes from catalytic decomposition of ethanol. More particularly, the invention relates to a process for preparing hydrogen gas and carbon nanotubes from catalytic decomposition of bioethanol over Ni/La2O3 catalyst is obtainable by H2 reduction of a LaNiO3 perovskite catalyst precursor. Additionally, the present invention relates to the use of a Ni/La2O3 catalyst obtainable by H2 reduction of a LaNiO3 perovskite catalyst precursor in the manufacture of hydrogen gas and carbon nanotubes from gaseous ethanol.
