The method involves transporting an object (P) by using an endless conveyor belt (1) to an accommodation device (3) by a transport device. A fixed reference measuring line (RM) that stays perpendicular or diagonal to a center axis (M) and cuts the center axis, is defined. An actual-relative position of the object is determined relative to the conveyor belt. An actual-reference position of the object is used for determination of the actual-relative position of the object. The actual-relative position is used relative to the conveyor belt for positioning the accommodation device. An independent claim is also included for a device for transporting an object to an accommodation device.
