<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of evaluating a die casting release agent, in which a more reliable evaluation result is obtained concerning pull force when a casting is separated from a metal block, or observation of the casting separated from the a metal block. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method of evaluating the die casting release agent includes: a concave-convex metal block heating step S1 for heating a concave-convex metal block 1 provided with a concave-convex part 2 formed in a concave, convex, or concave-convex shape on a surface to a predetermined temperature; a release agent applying step S2 for applying a release agent 4 to the surface of the concave-convex metal block 1; a cylindrical metal member arranging step S3 for arranging a cylindrical metal member 10 in the concave-convex metal block 1 to which the release agent 4 is applied; a pouring step S4 for pouring a melt 5a into the cylindrical metal member 10 arranged in the concave-convex metal block 1; a pull force measuring step S5 for measuring the pull force when a casting 5b is released from the concave-convex metal block 1 by pulling the cylindrical metal member 10; and an observing step S6 for observing the casting 5b released from the concave-convex metal block 1.
