<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maximally continue assist control by using a normal signal out of a main torque signal and a sub-torque signal of a torque detecting means, even when a difference between the main torque signal and the sub-torque signal of the torque detecting means becomes large, when failure is caused in a part of the torque detecting means. <P>SOLUTION: In a torque sensor 11 for outputting the main torque signal Vtm and the sub-torque signal Vts. respective offsets of the main torque signal Vtm and the sub-torque signal Vts are detected, and the assist control is normally performed based on the main torque signal. When the difference between the main torque signal Vtm and the sub-torque signal Vts continues for a predetermined time by exceeding a predetermined value, it is determined that failure is caused in the torque sensor 11, and the assist control is performed by using a torque signal corresponding to the smaller offset. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
