<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body structure of an automobile for making both compatible in reducing a damage characteristic of one's own vehicle and reducing an assaulting characteristic of a mating vehicle at a higher level, when colliding head-on with the other vehicle. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Front side frames 1 are arranged in front of a vehicle V. Apron reinforcements 3 are also arranged forward from the roots of front pillars P. Connecting members 5 are further arranged in front of the apron reinforcements 3. The front end of the connecting member 5 is positioned outside in the vehicle width direction to the front side frame 1, and exists in the same position in the vehicle longitudinal direction and the vehicle vertical direction. The mutual front ends of the connecting member 5 and the front side frame 1 are connected by a face part 59. A load unabsorbable by crush cans 7 in a vehicle head-on collision is transmitted to the front side frames 1 and the connecting members 5 by the face parts 59, to reduce the damage characteristic of the vehicle V. Since impact is applied to the mating vehicle via the face parts 59 after the crush cans 7 are crushed, the assaulting characteristic to the mating vehicle is also reduced.
