Disclosed are a culture medium, an additive and a method for inducing the differentiation of mammalian somatic stem cells into cells having characteristic properties of adipocytes with high efficiency under conditions employing a serum-free or low-serum culture medium. Specifically disclosed is a culture medium for inducing the differentiation of mammalian somatic stem cells into adipocytes, which comprises a base culture medium for culturing mammalian cells, an agent for inducing the differentiation of mammalian somatic stem cells into adipocytes, biotin, a ligand for an endothelial cell differentiation gene (Edg) family receptor, vitamin C and HEPES, and which is serum-free or contains serum at a low concentration. |
