A design system (1) is provided with a function of acquiring a design specification of an object to be designed and an evaluation index for evaluating the value of the object to be designed in the design specification, a function of acquiring profile data relating to the object to be designed, a function of extracting entity design elements and important design variables from the profile data, prioritizing the entity design elements and important design variables, and constructing a design workflow (a design sequence determination unit (12)), a function of constructing an evaluation formula for evaluating the performance of the design result of each of the entity design elements matching the constructed design workflow (an evaluation method construction unit (13)), a function of performing automatic optimization while evaluating the design result by the evaluation index in accordance with the design workflow to which the evaluation formula is associated and deriving an appropriate solution, and a function of outputting the derived appropriate solution. Thus, the object to be designed is parametrically treated, and the appropriate solution can be derived by appropriately combining a series of design elements and creating the design workflow for efficiently deriving the optimum design solution.
