PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle dial type operation device which improves the operability of a dial and appearance quality while always securing the safety of an occupant. SOLUTION: The on-vehicle dial type operation device 1 includes dial rears 4, which are fitted to the outside of rotating shafts 22 of rotary encoders 2, and pipes 5, which are each fitted to the dial rears 4 externally. Push nuts 6 are fitted from the upper end side of the pipes 5 and arranged in protruding parts 51 of the pipes 5. Furthermore, dials 7 are fitted to the pipes 5 externally. Usually, the push nuts 6 normally press the inside circumferential surface 5a of the pipes 5 to the dials 7 side so that the dials 7 can be maintained at usual setting positions. Then, if load that exceeds load at the time of operation is applied to the dials 7 on a collision, abrupt braking, or the like of a vehicle, the push nuts 6 are deformed, which makes it impossible for the pipes 5 to be pressed to the dials 7 side and thereby the dials 7 are made to drop to a protrusion amount determined by a law or lower.
