<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device capable of reducing communication errors, when the device transmits and receives data with a counterpart device having a display panel with a built-in optical sensor. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic device 100 includes a display controller 11, a receiver 12, a VRAM (Video Random Access Memory), a VRAM scanner 11B, and a VRAM update portion 11A. When data is transmitted to the counterpart device that is facing the device, the display controller displays the data on the screen of a liquid crystal panel 140 of the device 100 as an image. The receiver receives data displayed on the screen of a liquid crystal panel of the counterpart device that is facing the device as an image, through an optical sensor of the device. The VRAM stores data to be transmitted to the counterpart device. The VRAM scanner scans data stored at the VRAM.
