<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road state data providing device for providing data indicating a proper road state to vehicle control equipment when an abnormal operation is detected. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The road state data providing device connected to a vehicle control unit 3 for controlling a vehicle includes: a map data storage unit 5 which stores map data; positional information acquisition unit 4 which obtains positional information indicating the current position of the vehicle; an abnormality detection unit 1 which detects an abnormal operation; and a control unit 2 which generates, when the abnormal operation is detected by the abnormality detection unit, road state data including at least one of the vehicle current position, the type of the road where the vehicle travels, a road state, or a place located in the forward direction where the vehicle can stop, according to road data and parking space data contained in the map data obtained from a map data storage unit and data obtained from the positional information obtained by the positional information obtaining unit and indicating the current position and the advance direction of the vehicle, and sends the data to the vehicle control equipment.
