The disclosed strobe device allows the same operation setting using the display panel and input keys as when the device is in the standard position even when the orientation of the device is changed. The strobe device (1) is configured with an incline sensor (21) that detects the orientation of the main device body, and a control unit (13) that changes the orientation of an operation-setting display that is displayed on a liquid crystal panel (4) according to the orientation of the main device body and changes the process assignments that are to be executed by the manipulation of the various input keys (11) according to the position of the main device body.
