The embodiments of the present invention provide a method and apparatus for managing textual information, wherein the method includes the following steps: a) a textual expression corresponding to a textual information is generated (101); b) when said textual information needs to be used again, said textual expression corresponding to said textual information is searched and said textual information is obtained thereby (102). The present invention allows for a concise and speedy search of textual information that has already been received. This enables users to avoid searching for corresponding textual information in the chat log, thereby saving time.
