<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for economically producing a copolyester while reducing the amount of oligomers distilled out in a polycondensation reaction by specifying charging ratio of raw materials and additional amount of phosphoric acid or its ester. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the copolyester composed of a dicarboxylic acid component (A) comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a 6-12C aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and a glycol component (G) is characterized in that the charging ratio (G/A) of the glycol component (G) and the dicarboxylic acid component (A) is 1.05-1.20 and phosphoric acid or its ester is added in an amount of 1×10<SP>-4</SP>to 200×10<SP>-4</SP>mol based on 1 mol of the acid component.
