PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a fuel consumption rate obtained by compensating for an effect of wind in a method of testing an actual vehicle fuel consumption for measuring a fuel consumption of a vehicle by repeatedly running the vehicle within a fixed course. SOLUTION: In addition to a running speedometer 11 and a fluid flowmeter 12, an anemometer 13 for measuring the direction and velocity of wind in the vicinity of a vehicle body is installed on a test vehicle. After vehicle speed, fuel flow rate, wind direction and wind velocity are measured for each drive on a fixed course, and the vehicle speed Vx, the fuel flow rate D, the wind velocity Vwand the wind direction θ are calculated, a vehicle longitudinal-direction wind velocity Wx(n) and fuel consumption P(n) are determined for each drive on a fixed course (n=1 to N) using average values thereof, a relationship between the vehicle longitudinal-direction wind velocity Wxand the fuel consumption P are function-approximated, and using the function, the fuel consumption P when the vehicle longitudinal-direction wind velocity is Wxis determined.
