PURPOSE: A water leakage preventing device for a steel pipe is provided to easily repair a steel pipe having large diameter and high pressure by discharging fluid exposed in damaged parts and repairing the pipe. CONSTITUTION: A water leakage preventing device(100) comprises a joining flange(110), front and rear fitting projections(130,150), a drain groove(160), and a rubber packing(170). The ends of the leakage preventing units are coupled by the joining flange. The front and rear fitting projections are formed on a front lower surface and a rear lower surface, respectively. The front and rear fitting projection respectively have front and rear fitting grooves(120,140). The bottom of the front fitting projection adheres closely to the exterior of the second pipe. The rear fitting projection is formed lower than the front fitting projection. The bottom of the rear fitting projection adheres closely to the exterior of the first pipe. The drain groove is formed between the front and rear fitting projections. When the multiple leakage prevention units are coupled, fluid exposed from a damaged part is drained through a drain groove. The rubber packing is inserted into the front and rear fitting grooves.
