<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device having a display panel with a built-in optical sensor, the electronic device efficiently performing data transmission, when the devices transmit and receive data mutually. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic device includes a display controller 51 and a receiver 52. When data are transmitted to a counterpart device that is facing the device, the display controller displays the data on the screen of a liquid crystal panel 240 as an image. The receiver receives data displayed on the screen of a liquid crystal panel of the counterpart device that is facing the device as an image through an optical sensor. The display controller 51 divides data to be transmitted to the counterpart device into a plurality of frames, and displays data contained in each frame one by one for every frame on the screen of the liquid crystal panel 240 of the device 200 as an image.
