PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide tailored gum fitting to the chewing ability of a consumer by designing a gum base using an analysis result of chewing movement. SOLUTION: A method for producing the gum base to be used for producing the gum fitting to the chewing ability of a consumer includes a process of preparing at least three kinds of standard gum bases each different in hardness, and a process of observing the chewing movement of the consumer and acquiring a motion track wave shape and a speed change wave shape in the vertical direction, for each of the at least three kinds of standard gum bases. Furthermore, the method includes a process of extracting a first peculiar point in which speed change becomes small in a closing phase later period, from the motion track wave shape and the speed change wave shape, and acquiring a closing speed in the first peculiar point, and a process of plotting the closing speed in the first peculiar point for the hardness of the standard gum base, and setting a hardness maximizing a change rate of the closing speed to change of the hardness, as the hardness of the gum base of the consumer.
