The invention relates to a lancet magazine (7) for use in a lancing device, having a plurality of lancets (8) each having a lancet body (8b) on the proximal end of the lancet and a lancet tip on the distal end of the lancet, wherein the proximal end of the lancet points in the direction of the proximal end of the housing of the lancet magazine and the distal end of the lancet is aligned in the direction of the distal end of the housing and the lancets are completely surrounded by the housing in an unused state. Furthermore, an extension unit is movably connected to the housing such that the housing can be extended in the direction of the distal end of the housing by moving the extension unit, such that the lancet is prevented from escaping from the lancet magazine.
