A process for connecting a plastic pipe to another plastic component, where the pipe and component outer layers are opaque to laser light of certain wavelengths, comprises surrounding the ends of the pipe (1) and plastic component by an intermediate member made of a plastic which is transparent to laser light. The intermediate member is then secured by laser welding. A process for connecting a plastic pipe to another plastic component, where the pipe and component outer layers are opaque to laser light of certain wavelengths, comprises surrounding the ends of the pipe (1) and plastic component by an intermediate member made of a plastic which is transparent to laser light. The intermediate member is then secured by laser welding. The plastic pipe is multi-layered, and includes a barrier and/or anti-static layer. The other plastic component is a quick connector (3), valve or lid, and the intermediate section is in the form of a sleeve (4). The pipe is inserted into the sleeve and is then fixed by a weld. |
