The method involves detecting an object at surrounding of vehicle (1), and analyzing whether the detected object represents risk of collision for the vehicle. Light emission is produced when the object represents the risk of collision for the vehicle, where the light emission is pointed towards a driver in a travel direction for reducing the risk of collision. The light emission is increased in an area of the travel direction. Light signal are projected on a road surface before the vehicle, where the signal indicates that overtaking is discontinued. An independent claim is also included for a driver assistance system for a vehicle, comprising an environment detecting device.
