<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector that achieves significant improvement in reliability by preventing the occurrence of a short-circuit between power supply contacts and ground contacts even when, for example, a memory card is erroneously mounted as an insert other than a plug. <P>SOLUTION: The connector includes an opening 12 that allows an insert other than a plug to be inserted thereinto, and a plurality of contacts 15 that are in contact with a plurality of contacts of a plug in the opening 12 and include at least power supply contacts and ground contacts.
