The brake has a brake caliper (1) overlapping a brake disk (2), and an actuating unit (4) arranged at the brake caliper. Two brake linings (3) are arranged and displaceably limited in the brake caliper and cooperate with each side of the brake disk. One of the brake linings is directly engaged by the actuating unit and the other brake lining engaged with the brake disk by effect of reaction force applied by the brake caliper. The brake caliper is formed such that rigidity of the caliper is increased in volatile manner while applying the brake in a characteristic condition. An independent claim is also included for a method for determination of a clamping force of a disk brake.
