The method involves utilizing process air for sorting individual sheets from stack made of sheet-shaped material within a region of a feeder of a sheet-processing machine i.e. sheet printing press. The process air is utilized for supporting transportation of the sorted sheets by the machine and/or for collecting processed sheets in the form of stack within the region of the feeder of the machine such that the process air is adjusted to defined process air temperature i.e. around 10 degree Celsius, and/or to defined relative process air humidity.
