<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of suppressing power consumption without preparing a special cord, and to provide an AC adaptor. <P>SOLUTION: The power consumption suppressing device has a structure in which a DC cable for attachment detachably coupled so as to extend to a DC cable connected to an AC adaptor is provided, a one end side connection terminal detachably attachable to the DC cable is provided on the one end side of the DC cable for attachment, the other end side connection terminal connected to the other end side of an electric apparatus is provided on the other end of the DC cable for attachment, and a switch for switching a DC current supplied to the electric apparatus is provided on the midway of the DC cable for attachment.
