PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimally control the state of a flame generated from the tip of a torch. SOLUTION: A heating device 10 includes: a combustion gas adjusting valve 19, which is arranged on a supplying passage 17 of a mixture of a flux and a combustion gas, and which changes the flow rate of the combustion gas; and a beam sensor 26, which detects the intensity of a beam emitted from a flame generated from the tip of a torch 24. A controller 25 receives a signal showing the intensity of a beam from the beam sensor 26, and controls the flow rate of the combustion gas by the combustion gas adjusting valve 19. The controller 25 detects the time when a sensor value based on the signal from the beam sensor reaches a peak while decreasing the flow rate of the combustion gas gradually from the state where the flame generated from the tip of the torch 24 is a carbonizing flame, and decides the flow rate of the combustion gas to that of oxygen at the time when the flame is a neutral flame based on the flow rate of the combustion gas at the time when the peak value is reached.
