PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a continuously cast slab of martensitic stainless steel for suppressing occurrence of cracks recognized after hot rolling. SOLUTION: The production method includes a process where a martensitic stainless steel having a composition containing, by mass, 0.050 to 0.500% C, 8.00 to 18.00% Cr, ≤1.00% Si and ≤1.00% Mn, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is continuously cast, and, in the continuous casting process, a stage of electromagnetically stirring the molten steel of the martensitic stainless steel is further included, and, the current value and frequency of the electromagnetic stirring in the electromagnetic stirring stage satisfy the conditions expressed by formula (1), I<SP>2</SP>/f≤8,200, wherein I denotes the current value (unit: A) of the electromagnetic stirring, and f denotes the frequency (unit: Hz) of the electromagnetic stirring.
