PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recording data to an information-recording medium. SOLUTION: The method for recording data to an information-recording medium includes the following steps: a step which receives an instruction to record new data in a logical address A, a step which determines whether the data is recorded in a physical address A corresponding to the logical address A, a step which processes the physical address A as a defective area when the data is recorded in the physical address A, and records new data in a physical address B, a step which generates a defect entry in which positional information on a defective area and positional information on an alternate area are each the physical address A and the physical address B, respectively, a step which records a provisional defect list including the defect entry in a provisional defect management area which is provided in the read-in area of an information recording medium, and a step which records provisional defect management information including information on a position in which the provisional defect list is recorded, in the provisional defect management area.
