<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a plasma display panel with high-definition and high-brightness display performance, and yet with reduced power consumption. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the plasma display panel, a protecting sheet 9 is composed of a first protecting sheet 91a formed on a dielectric layer 8 and a second protecting sheet 91b formed on the first protecting sheet 91a. The second protecting sheet 91b is made of metal oxide composed of magnesium oxide and calcium oxide. X-ray diffraction analysis of a protecting sheet face shows that there is a diffraction peak between a diffraction angle where the a peak of the magnesium oxide is generated and a diffraction angle where a peak of calcium oxide of the angle of direction as that of the magnesium oxide is generated.
