<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifting device capable of changing a lifting speed of a transfer device without losing synchronism of a lifting motor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This lifting device includes a load gauge 21 for detecting weight of a carrying object 100, the transfer device 11 for holding the carrying object 100, a counterweight 12 having a fluid tank 12a, a chain 15 for connecting the transfer device 11 and the counterweight 12, a driving pulley 14 for winding the chain 15, the lifting motor 17 for rotating the driving pulley 14, a fluid coupling 16 for transmitting motive power of the lifting motor 17 to the driving pulley 14, a pump 23 for supplying fluid 40 to the fluid tank 12a, a solenoid valve 24 with a flowmeter for adjusting a flow rate of the fluid 40 flowing between the pump 23 and the fluid tank 12a, and a control device 30 for operating the pump 23 and the solenoid valve 24 with the flowmeter so that weight of the carrying object 100 and the transfer device 11 and weight of the counterweight 12 and the fluid 40 stored in the fluid tank 12a, become the same.
