PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical shaft with good accuracy on shape and dimensions, to provide a carrying roller which allows cost and weight to be reduced and furthermore suppresses conveyance irregularity, and to provide a carrying unit and a printer device using this carrying roller. SOLUTION: The cylindrical shaft 16 is formed in a cylindrical shape by making a pair of ends face each other by press working, having a seam 80 between a pair of ends. The seam 80 includes a plurality of crossing parts 87a which extend in a direction crossing the axial direction of the cylindrical shaft 16, a first straight line part 87b which connects between ends at one sides of a pair of crossing parts 87a adjacent to each other, and a second straight line part 87c which connects the ends at the other sides of a pair of crossing parts 87a adjacent to each other and is shorter than the first straight line parts 87b. A distance d4 between a pair of ends on the first straight line parts 87b is structured to be shorter that a distance d3 between a pair of ends on the second straight line parts 87c.
